As part of my experiment with exercise, I thought I would document day 2. I thought – what will happen if I go down to the gym again?
I was hoping for the same burst of endorphins that I experienced yesterday, but aside from feeling like I had achieved something today, I did not feel the same euphoria.
I wasn’t feeling great before exercising; my hips, ankles, knees and back had been sore. I think my back hurts a tad more, but I still feel good about having made the effort.
I’ve also been more mindful of what I’ve been eating today, especially since the exercise. It was only a short 11 minute burst on the crosstrainer, a 1 minute plank and 50 leg pushes on the leg pushing machine. I think the leg pushing machine didn’t help my back, but that’s fine – no pain, no gain.
Immediately after my exercise, I did feel a craving for fresh fruit, vegetables and water. This was consistent with yesterday’s sentiment, except I did not imagine a tropical beach holiday this time.
I am about to do my grocery shopping (online) now; being mindful about the fact that exercise does not mean that I should consume additional calories, I am staying away from some of the sugary treats that we all love.
