The rotten supermarket fish

It may sound completely ridiculous, but I have recently found that whenever I have purchased fish from the supermarket, even in an upmarket area, that it’s been off every single time.

I appreciate that it obviously can’t be as fresh as from the fishmarkets; and I am sure that the supermarkets are relieved that people like me are too busy being gainfully employed to be able to go to the fishmarkets. However, I’d have expected the major chains to have some sort of standards.

First, I thought that the type of fish I purchased was simply too cheap. I then tried to buy the more upmarket fish. The most expensive fish still smelt awful and was slimy. In fact, all of them turned out to be slimy. What gives? It didn’t matter how much money I spent, it was all slimy and smelly. Washing it didn’t help.

Supermarkets, sort your shit out. Do your jobs. What’s the point of working long hours and getting paid if I cant come home to a decent, non-rotten dinner. Fix your shit. There are loads of rants on the internet about this for this very reason. I won’t name and shame this time, but maybe I will next time.

Meanwhile, I wonder where else I can find fresh fish outside of business hours…
